West Side is 50!
It was fifty years ago in 1955 that West Side opened its doors,
graduating its first class in 1956.
To celebrate a half-century of educating our children, we've planned a
series of special events throughout the 2005-2006 school year.
The 50th Anniversary Committee is planning a tree planting on September
12th, 2005 at 1 p.m. This event will kick off
the year-long celebration. The tree, which is being graciously donated by
Phil Tuthill of Tuthill's Nursery, will be planted directly in front
of the school. And what would an anniversary be without a
party? Yes, that's in the plans as well, and it promises to be loads of
fun. The details are still being refined, so please check back for updates.
How you can help
To join in the fun, we're asking for graduates of West
Side to contact us. We're currently compiling a registry of graduates,
which we will publish on this site shortly. The information in the
registry will only be available to registered users of the site
(registration is free).
Share your memoriesIn addition,
we are asking graduates, former teachers, and staff for help recalling
memories of West Side. We'd love to borrow photographs, class rings,
newspaper clippings, athletic letters, and other memorabilia for a
display. If you have items you're willing to contribute, please contact
Marian Galbraith.
